How to Make a Photo Sing with AI

Updated October 29, 2026 · Tiny Desk AI Generator

To make a photo appear to sing, you need both a portrait and a performance or audio source. Some tools animate a portrait to a song you upload. Tiny Desk AI instead places the person from your photo into a short concert performance and keeps that stage’s original audio.

Pick the result you actually want

Three different photo-and-music workflows
GoalWhat you needWhat to check
Animate a portrait to a chosen songA photo and an audio-driven lip-sync tool that accepts your audioSong upload, duration limits and singing support
Put yourself on a concert stageA photo and a reference performance, such as our built-in stageThe stage voice, framing and actual sample output
Use your own singing voiceA permitted recording of your voice and a compatible audio/video workflowAudio inputs and timing; a photo alone is not enough

Make a concert clip from one photo here

  1. Listen to the stage preview. Its soundtrack is the sound your result will keep.
  2. Upload one clear adult photo in JPG, PNG or WebP format, up to 8 MB.
  3. Sign in, confirm permission and submit one generation with one credit.
  4. Allow around 4–10 minutes, sometimes longer. Review the finished video before downloading.

The original-stage output is a 15-second vertical MP4 at 720p. You do not upload an MP3 or write lyrics in this workflow. For the full process, see the step-by-step guide.

A real output made with a fictional adult portrait: 15 seconds, 720 × 1280, with the original stage audio. This is an example, not a guarantee of identical results.

Why does a male portrait still have a female singing voice?

The picture and soundtrack are separate. Replacing the stage performer’s appearance does not replace the source vocals. The current generator does not infer a voice from a face or offer a male/female voice selector. Listen before generating; if the voice does not suit your intended performer, this stage may not fit your idea.

The silent download removes the audio without spending another generation credit. You can edit that file elsewhere, but changing the song afterwards may leave the mouth movements out of time. Repeatedly generating the same photo will not turn the original soundtrack into a different voice.

Is a singing photo generator free?

Check what “free” covers: a preview, a prompt or a rendered video are different things. On this site, guides, the example video and the prompt builder are free to use. Video generation requires credits; the single-video pack is $9.99. There is no subscription or automatic renewal.

What to inspect in the finished video

Look at face consistency during head turns, the mouth around sustained notes, fingers near the microphone and the start and end of the audio. A convincing first frame is not enough. Use a clear, front-facing portrait where possible, and do not present a synthetic performance as a real recording of the person.

Example of the separate audio-upload approach: VGE’s singing-photo tool describes portrait and song inputs. Its features belong to that service, not to our generator.
